Week of August 23, 1960

Tuesday, August 23, 1960
Rain starting in AM and continued most of day.
Tobacco market opened average 57.65
9 sold about 1500 lbs
Cut poles until stop by rain
Labor came to town to tobacco market.
Hauled load silage to cows

Wednesday, August 24, 1960
Cloudy and Cool
Land Wet
Cutting poles and slats and hauling to field.
Cutting tobacco stalks                         

Thursday, August 25, 1960
Cloudy with rain @ 1 pm
Hauling out poles and slats
Building Fence @ back pasture gate
Cutting Tobacco stalks-Joe
Discing tobacco fields-Tucker
I went to a hospital meeting @ 3 to 5 pm.
(?) cutting pole slats 

Friday, August 26, 1960
Misty Rain, Cloudy and Cool
Land very wet from 2 ½ inches rain and misty rain most of the day.
Arthur and Norman worked 4 hr in am (messing) then they came into town and I let them have some money

Saturday August 27, 1960 
Fair and Cool
No Farm
I gave the (?) a pig; they had a Bar-B-Q
 
Sunday, August 28, 1960
Fair to cloudy and hot
All at home
I slept till 8, ate and went back to bed till 12
Guests  left @ 9 pm
I did not go to farm today.
 
Monday, August 29, 1960
Fair Very Very Hot and Humid
Cutting weeds at end of corn field and hauling the corn to cows
Mowing some ditches
I got two men from Princeville to
cut weeds out of Beans (south side of cabin)
Sold 1300 lbs of tobacco today at average of 65 cents.
